If you are a travel nurse heading to the Big Island of Hawaii for a contract assignment, you need a car. Public transit barely exists here and rideshare is unreliable outside Kona. Our monthly rates start at $1,599 and are built for multi-week and multi-month stays. A 13-week assignment? That is 3 months plus 1 week, each charged at the best available tier. No daily rate sticker shock.
We deliver your car to KOA airport when you land, to your housing, or anywhere on the Big Island. You have enough to coordinate with a new assignment. Getting a rental car should not be one more thing on the list.
Every rental includes 200 miles per day. That is more than enough for the commute between Kona and Hilo (90 miles round trip), plus grocery runs, beach days, and weekend exploration.

The Big Island has several major healthcare facilities that regularly staff travel nurses. Kaiser Permanente Kona Medical Office is one of the largest employers in the area, located right in Kailua-Kona. Kona Community Hospital is in Kealakekua, about 15 minutes south of town. Hilo Medical Center is on the east side, roughly 90 minutes from Kona via Saddle Road (Daniel K. Inouye Highway). North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea and Ka'u Hospital in Pahala also bring in travel nurses regularly. We deliver to all of these locations and anywhere in between.
The Big Island is over 4,000 square miles, larger than all other Hawaiian islands combined. There is no rail, no subway, and the bus system runs limited routes on limited schedules. If you are working at Kona Community Hospital and living in Kailua-Kona, your commute is about 15 minutes by car. Without a car, it could take over an hour by bus, if a bus runs at all during your shift hours.
If your assignment is at Hilo Medical Center but your housing is on the Kona side, you are looking at a 90-minute drive each way over Saddle Road. Many nurses assigned to Hilo find housing in Hilo, but you will still want a car for groceries, exploring, and days off. The nearest Costco to Hilo is in Kona.
On your days off, you will want to explore. Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea stargazing, black sand beaches at Punaluu, snorkeling at Two Step, coffee farms in Kona, waterfalls in Hilo. All of it requires a car. Our 200 miles per day allowance means you can do all of it without worrying about mileage charges.

A typical 13-week travel nurse assignment (91 days) would be calculated as 3 months at the monthly rate, plus any remaining days at the daily rate.
