Mauka Hualalai Rentals is my ohana, based on the Kona side, and we bring cars across the island to Hilo for visitors who want something better than the airport counter. Fly into Hilo International Airport (ITO) and the car is there waiting, washed and full of gas. When your trip wraps up, we collect it in Hilo. No counter, no shuttle, no line.
Here is the part the Hilo chains cannot match. We carry vans and sports cars they do not stock. A 15 passenger Sprinter for the whole group, or a Porsche Boxster for the coast road. Tell us your dates and where you are staying, and we handle the rest.

Walk up to a rental counter at ITO and you get a sedan, maybe a midsize SUV if you are lucky. That is the whole menu. We bring the vehicles Hilo does not have, straight from our Kona fleet.
Traveling with a group, a wedding party, or a church crew? Our 12 and 15 passenger Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter vans seat everyone with room for the luggage. Want to enjoy the drive instead of just surviving it? A Porsche Boxster, a BMW 430i convertible, or a Jaguar turns the Hamakua Coast and the road to Volcanoes National Park into a different trip entirely.
One thing to know up front. We are based in Kona, about two hours west of Hilo, so delivery to Hilo carries a set fee based on the distance. We quote it before you book, never a surprise. For a van or a sports car you cannot get any other way in Hilo, most folks find it well worth it.

The drive from Kona is about two hours each way, which is why Hilo delivery is a set, distance-based fee, quoted up front.
Arriving by cruise ship? Some sailings dock right at Hilo Harbor. Give us your ship and the date and we will have your car near the pier for your day ashore, then collect it before all aboard.

There is a set delivery fee based on the distance, and we tell you up front, never a surprise on your bill. Hilo is about a two hour drive from our Kona base, so it is one of our farther delivery spots. For a van or a sports car you cannot rent in Hilo otherwise, most travelers find it well worth it.
